Prerequisites
The tools you need to build, test and run each part of the repository.
| Tool | Version | Needed for |
|---|---|---|
| Node.js | 24 or later (CI uses 24.14.0) | everything TypeScript; Node 24 runs .ts files directly and provides node:sqlite |
| npm | the version bundled with Node 24 (11.19.0 was used locally) | workspaces and npm ci |
| Rust | 1.96.0 with rustfmt, clippy and the wasm32v1-none target (the CI pin) | the contracts and the Rust development bridge |
| Stellar CLI | 28.0.0 | building contract Wasm only |
| Chrome or Edge | any recent version | the browser journeys (set TOBIN_BROWSER if it is not detected) |
No database server is needed: the application uses SQLite through node:sqlite. Freighter is needed only to try the
wallet flows by hand, and only on Testnet.
You can work on most of the repository without Rust
The TypeScript parts (the application, the SDK and these docs) need only Node and npm. Rust is needed for the contracts and for the bridge-backed tests; without the bridge those tests are skipped and the skips are reported.
Package manager
The repository uses npm workspaces only, with the lockfile at the root. Do not introduce another package manager.
CI installs with npm ci --ignore-scripts.
Continue with Install and run.
